Uttara Bank Limited is one of the largest and oldest private sector commercial banks in Bangladesh, founded in 1965.
The bank was originally a scheduled bank of the Eastern Banking Corporation. Still, after the birth of Bangladesh, the Bank was nationalized under Bangladesh Banks (Nationalisation) Order 1972, and the name was changed to Uttara Bank.
In 1983, as a first bank in the country, the bank had experienced the privatization of the Bank in Bangladesh.
The bank is rendering its services through its 239 fully Online branches across the country. Moreover, the bank has 39 Authorized Dealer Branches as of November 06, 2017.
For training the employees, the bank has opened 1 training institute. Besides, the bank belongs to a Treasury & Dealing Room.
As on January 29, 2020, the bank has a large number of employees that amount to 3509. Moreover, the bank has more than 600 foreign correspondents at worldwide.
The bank has 12 Regional offices around the country. The bank is comprised of The Board of Directors of 15 members. Also, the bank is headed by the Managing Director, who is the Chief Executive Officer.
