Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) is a private commercial bank in Bangladesh. It is a scheduled joint venture private commercial bank between local Bangladeshi parties by M Sahabuddin Ahmed (Founder & Chairman) and a Dutch company FMO.
Mainly it is the joint venture partnership business between Bangladesh and Netherlands.
The bank was entered into Bangladesh under the Bank Companies Act 1991 and registered as a public limited company under the Companies Act 1994 in Bangladesh.
The bank’s first and foremost objective has been to carry on all kinds of banking business in Bangladesh.
Mainly, the bank initiated its first formal operation on June 3, 1996. The bank is listed with the Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited and Chittagong Stock Exchange Limited.
Dutch Bangla Bank is the first bank in Bangladesh that is fully automated. The bank introduced its electronic-banking division in 2002 to undertake rapid automation and bring modern banking services into this field.
However, Full automation ended in 2003; this bank introduced plastic money to the Bangladeshi masses.
Moreover, the bank has set up 4,930 ATMs all over Bangladesh for the most significant business network in Bangladesh.
On October 10, 2010, DBBL inaugurated its 1000th ATM at the factory premises of the GlaxoSmithKline, Chittagong.
On June 3, 2010, Dutch Bangla Bank introduced an internet payment gateway system (Nexus Gateway). Using their Internet Payment Gateway, merchants can charge their customers’ Visa, Masters, DBBL Nexus, and Maestro cards online. Presently DBBL has more than 400 e-commerce Merchants.
As of 2018, the employees are 1661 serving the people for the bank across the country.
